The Charities
A Charitable Purpose
The idea of dedicating the completion of this quest to a worthwhile charitable cause came from a suggestion made by two friends and colleagues. -
All the money I raised was donated equally to two charities. These are:
Brake—the road safety charity.
(Registered charity number 1093244)
Did you know that on average 9 families every day are informed that a loved one has been killed in a road accident? Brake has two aims:
To prevent death and injury on the roads through education of all road users and campaigning for Government improvements to road safety
To care for people who are bereaved or affected by serious injury in a road crash through support services, including a helpline and literature distributed through police officers.
Coventry Myton Hospice Appeal
(Registered charity number 508768)
The Myton Hospice has helped many families coping with a loved one who is terminally ill. Since I completed my quest the new facility on the site of the Coventry and Warwickshire University Hospital at Walsgrave has opened. This provides much needed capacity to care for the terminally ill and requires continuing support and commitment to maintain its services.
